Dumpster Rental vs. Junk Removal: Which One Is Right for You?
June 9, 2026

You've got a pile of junk. Could be a garage, a basement, a whole house. And you're trying to figure out the best way to make it disappear.

Two options usually come up first: rent a dumpster or hire a junk removal company.

Here's the thing: we actually offer both. So we can give you the straight truth on which one makes sense for your situation.

Let's break it down.

How Dumpster Rental Works (Our Version)

You call us. We drop off a 15‑yard dumpster at your place. Dimensions are 13' long x 7.5' wide x 5' tall.

You fill it up over a day or a weekend. Then you call us, and we come back to haul it away.

Here's what our rental includes:

  • Delivery – We bring it to you.
  • One day of rental – That's 24 hours.
  • Pickup – We come get it.
  • One ton of disposal – That's 2,000 pounds.

The base price: $375.

Need it longer? We'll work with you on extra days depending on your project needs. Every job is different, and we're flexible.

If you go over the one‑ton weight limit, each extra ton is $75. Max load is three tons total.

So a weekend rental with a full three‑ton load might run you around $500 – $575 plus your labor. That's delivery, a weekend of rental, pickup, and disposal.

How Full‑Service Junk Removal Works

You call us. We show up at your door. You point at the pile. We load it onto our truck, sort it as we go, and haul it away. Done.

Same company. Same crew. Just a different way of getting the job done.

Here's how we price it: we measure by the volume your stuff takes up in our truck. Clean, simple, no surprises.

Our junk removal pricing:

Volume Price
Minimum $199
2 yards $249
3 yards $299
4 yards (1/5 truck) $319
5 yards (1/4 truck) $349
6 yards $379
7 yards $409
8 yards (2/5 truck) $439
9 yards $469
10 yards (1/2 truck) $499
11 yards $539
12 yards (3/5 truck) $579
13 yards $619
14 yards $659
15 yards (3/4 truck) $699
16 yards (4/5 truck) $739
17 yards $779
18 yards $819
19 yards $859
20 yards (full truck) $899

That price includes everything: labor, hauling, sorting, donations, recycling, disposal, and cleanup.

No hidden fees. No weight surprises. Just one price.

Our Triage System: What Happens to Your Stuff

When we load your junk, we're not just throwing everything in a pile. We sort as we go using our four‑step triage system:

Rescue (Donate) – Usable furniture goes to Habitat for Humanity. Clothing and home goods go to Crisis Assistance Ministry or The Salvation Army. Your old stuff helps someone else.

Save (Recycle) – Electronics, scrap metal, cardboard, glass. These materials get broken down and turned into something new.

Restore (Keep) – Sometimes you find something you forgot you had and want to keep it. No problem. We set it aside.

Dispose – The stuff that's truly broken, stained, or beyond saving. This is the last resort, not the first option.

So when you pay us for full‑service hauling, you're not just paying for a truck. You're paying for responsible handling that keeps as much as possible out of the landfill.

Which One Is Right for You?

We offer both services. So we're not here to sell you on one or the other. We're here to help you figure out which one actually fits your situation.

Go with a dumpster rental if:

  • You're doing a renovation or construction project that will generate debris over several days or weeks.
  • You want to do the loading yourself at your own pace.
  • You've got heavy, non‑donatable material like concrete, dirt, or shingles.
  • You don't mind the physical work and you've got the time.

Go with full‑service junk removal if:

  • You don't want to lift heavy furniture or carry bags up from the basement.
  • You want it done in one visit, not spread out over a weekend.
  • You have items that can be donated or recycled—and you want them to go to the right place.
  • You value your time more than the labor savings of doing it yourself.

Both services have their place. We'll tell you straight which one makes more sense for your job.

Let's Do the Math (15 Yards)

Just so you can see the numbers.

Dumpster rental (our 15-yard dumpster):

  • Base rental (delivery, 1 day, 1 ton disposal, pickup): $375
  • Weekend rental (two extra days): $50
  • Weight overage (2–3 tons of heavy stuff): $75–$150
  • Your time loading and sorting: that's up to you to value
  • Out‑of‑pocket cost: $500–$575 plus your labor

Full-service junk removal (15 yards):

  • One price: $699
  • We do all the loading, sorting, donations, recycling, and disposal
  • Out‑of‑pocket cost: $699, no labor from you

If your time is worth something to you—and a weekend of hard work sounds unappealing—the extra $100–$200 might be money well spent.

But if you'd rather do the work yourself and save a few bucks, the dumpster is a great option.

If you manage rental property in Charlotte, you know the drill. Most tenants leave on good terms. They clean, they pack, they hand over the keys. Done. But sometimes? They don't. If you've ever driven to Charlotte to pick up your college student in May, you know the scene. Dumpsters are overflowing. The curb looks like a furniture store exploded. And somewhere under that pile is your kid's mini‑fridge, their desk lamp, and three bags of clothes they swear they need. Move‑out weekend at UNC Charlotte, Queens, Johnson & Wales, and the other campuses around town is chaos. Students are stressed. Parents are exhausted. And everyone just wants to be done. But here's the thing: a lot of that stuff still has life left in it. And it doesn't have to end up in a landfill or scattered across the sidewalk. Here's how to handle move‑out season without losing your mind.
